New pallets

New pallets are built from fresh lumber to a consistent spec — clean, uniform, and at full strength with no prior wear. They can be made to exact dimensions and load ratings, which matters for automated lines, specific export specs, or first-time loads where consistency counts.

Best for: custom specs, automated handling, appearance-sensitive or export shipments.
Pros: uniform size and look, maximum strength, build-to-spec.
Trade-offs: higher cost, price tracks the lumber market, uses new wood.

Used (recycled) pallets

Recycled pallets are inspected, repaired, and resold as Grade A or Grade B. They cost less, reuse wood that would otherwise be waste, and handle the vast majority of everyday shipping without issue. The main trade-off is cosmetic — more wear and repairs than new.

Best for: everyday domestic shipping, internal moves, recurring freight, cost-sensitive volume.
Pros: lower cost, sustainable reuse, widely available.
